On Monday and Tuesday, the Plaza Mayor Convention Center will host the first health summit “Epidemic and Transformation for Development”, organized by the Mayor of Medellin. Its purpose is to analyze the situation we are in as a result of the health crisis caused by the epidemic.
In addition, it seeks to adopt tools (public policies, new normative guidelines in public health) that favor the integration of new strategies and experiences of an epidemiological approach that contributes to local health now and in the future.
“This is an event of national and international standing where all the guests will be part of a building, bringing together all the experiences of the pandemic and also the social networking of those tools that we have in the regions to address what continues of the pandemic and that phase after that – a major pandemic that we hope will arrive in 2022Health Minister, Andre Uribe Montoya said.
This event features 32 keynote speakers in the field of health and economic development such as the Israeli National Coordinator for Disaster Management, Chaim Rafalowsky. The director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Bellevue Hospital in New York, Carlos Alviar and the regional director of Asopares, Juan Pablo Valenzuela, among others.
“At this summit, it must be remembered that Medellin was the first city to open the construction, manufacturing and shopping centers sectors. On September 1, we had a general opening of the economy and from that moment on we did not stop and meticulously prepared ourselves to have big December events in full forcesaid Secretary of Economic Development Alejandro Arias.
One of the main meetings is “Diagnosing health service delivery in times of a pandemic and post-pandemic challenges”, with the participation of the Director of Pablo Topon Uribe Hospital, Andres Aguirre Martinez; Deputy Director of Patient Safety at Clínica Las Américas, Jorge Nagles; Medical Surgeon of the University of Chile, Angela Mayer Fierro; Director of the General Hospital of Medellin, Mario Fernando Cordova; Metrosalud Director, Martha Cecilia Castrillon and Minister of Health, André Uribe Montoya, as mediator.
At 2:10 pm, they will talk about “Coronavirus Vaccination: Success Stories, New Lessons and Challenges in Health Care,” led by the National Coordinator for Disaster Management in Israel, Chaim Ravalowski, Director of the Heart Center. Intensive care unit at Bellevue Hospital in New York, Carlos Alvear, Dr. Maria E. Fernandez, on behalf of the Department of Introduction to International Science Policy United States and surgeon Angela Mayer Fierro of the University of Chile.
The programmed agenda focuses on six thematic themes:
- Diagnosis of the pandemic in Medellin.
- Pandemic and the future of public health.
- The future of tourism, entertainment and fashion in the post-pandemic period.
- Diagnosing health service delivery in times of a pandemic and post-pandemic challenges.
- Vaccination against Covid-19: success stories, lessons learned and new challenges in healthcare.
- Post-pandemic challenges from health secretariats (sectoral and municipal).
“We have a whole hall with the participation of officials and health personnel from different municipalities and departments of the country. Colleagues from the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Health, researchers and people of interest to this union are also attending. There is a very high commitment in terms of response and preparedness for the pandemicThe representative of the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization in Colombia, Gina Tambini, explained.
On behalf of the health entities, the following will participate: Metrosalud, General Hospitals of Medellín, Pablo Tobón Uribe, IPS Universitaria and Conquistadores clinics. Similarly, insurers Savia Salud, SURA, Nueva EPS and Salud Total will be linked.
Everyone will share their successful experiences in managing the pandemic, how they have improved their ability to respond and what they have done to bring health closer to citizens. In addition, they will be able to offer the offerings and services of their entity to the community.
