Economy. – Amazon will continue to accept Visa credit cards in the UK
Madrid, 17 (European Press)
E-commerce giant Amazon has reversed its decision to stop accepting Visa credit cards, so customers can continue to use them for purchases on its website.
“The expected change regarding the use of Visa credit cards on Amazon.co.uk will not occur on January 19,” Amazon said in a statement sent to British customers and picked up by the local press.
The company founded by Jeff Bezos made it clear that it is “working closely” with Visa to come up with a possible solution. The ban on using his credit cards, which was reported in November last year, was due to fees charged for each transaction.
Even if the ban continues, it only affects Visa credit cards, so customers can still use their debit cards. Both types of bank cards issued by Delta, MasterCard, Eurocard, American Express, Maestro and Solo can also be used.
The companies have not yet reached an agreement. Should negotiations finally fail, Amazon assured its customers that it will notify in advance when it stops accepting Visa cards.
