Starfield NVIDIA DLSS 5 showcase at GTC 2026 offers a better look at controversial technology than Resident Evil Requiem

The release of NVIDIA DLSS 5 was met with widespread skepticism last week, but the Starfield community doesn't seem to share that sentiment, judging by a video demonstration shared on YouTube by Plano Plays Games a few days ago.

The off-screen video was taken during last week's GTC 2026, reflecting the time the YouTuber had with the Starfield running NVIDIA DLSS 5. While the off-screen footage isn't the best quality, it does a good job of showing how the upcoming new version of NVIDIA's technology generally does a good job of improving its futuristic, flawless lighting.

Some issues with the artistic intent are still visible, especially when it comes to the faces of the real character that does not seem to fit well with the animation and art style, although it is a little less than other games used to show DLSS 5, such as Resident Evil Requiem.Without showing a battle sequence, it is now impossible to know how the technology will handle the emergency situation.

As mentioned above, somewhat surprisingly, the community response to the Starfield NVIDIA DLSS 5 demo was generally positive.User UniOnDirectOr called it a "night and day difference" and igorallexsander described it as "amazing technology".Some, like Dan_102, are already dismissing the AI witch hunt, saying the game with DLSS 5 enabled is "incredible."

Although the community expresses itself in a more balanced manner, the feedback remains predominantly positive.User boneymines11 noted that it was "really impressive for a first iteration" and emphasized that there was no noticeable drop in quality during movement. They further argued that the technology enriches artists' work rather than replacing it, claiming that the basic level of quality provided by the developers is still required for the end result to look as good.

No matter how NVIDIA DLSS 5 looks in its very early iteration, it can't escape claims that it makes games look like "faux lacquer."NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently said he sympathizes with critics, he doesn't like the stupidity of AI, but argued that that's not what the technology does.As Alessio Palumbo explained in his recent analysis, this common belief only highlights that the discovery leaves much to be desired.
