More reasons to love Firefox: What's new now and coming soon
Firefox is designed for people who make their choices on the web.The commitment to choice is reflected in the Firefox experience, and AI controls are the latest example, allowing you to turn AI productivity features on, off or customize on a per-feature basis.
In the coming weeks we will be rolling out a series of rolling updates in addition to this.Expect more control where you need it, better background protection, and some new tools that improve everyday browsing. You might even see a new look for Firefox along the way.
Here's a quick look at what to look out for:
The easiest way to personalize Firefox
The Settings section has been improved with clear navigation and search, so it's easy to customize Firefox. It's coming soon to Firefox Nightly.
Privacy improvements, built-in
Firefox comes with a free built-in VPN.Free VPNs can sometimes mean terrible deals that compromise your privacy, but ours is built on data bases and our commitment to being the world's most trusted browser. It delegates your browser traffic to hide your IP address and location while browsing, giving you enhanced privacy and security online without additional logs.To start, users in the US, France, Germany, and the UK get 50 gigabytes of data every month included in Firefox version 149 from March 24.
We also recently announced that Firefox was the first browser to introduce the Sanitizer API, a new web security standard that blocks attacks before they get to you.
New tools for more
Smart Window, formerly called AI Window, uses AI to provide quick assistance while you browse – such as quick definitions, article summaries, product comparisons and more – without leaving the page.It is completely optional to use and sign up. The waiting list is now open for updates and early access.
Split View puts two web pages side by side in a single window, making it easy to compare, copy, and multitask without jumping between tabs.Releasing March 24 in Firefox 149.
The Notes tab lets you add notes to any tab, another tool that helps you multitask and pick up where you left off.Available in Firefox Labs 149 as of March 24th.
"This year's Fireroadmap is the most exciting we've worked on in a while. We're only here to build a better browser, and our features over the next few months and beyond will be driven by feedback from our community," said Ajit Verma, president of Firefox. They offer privacy and are structured like Firefox. As always we want to help shape and invite others."
