Santo Domingo, March 16 (Prensa Latina) Today in this capital, the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom signed a Declaration of Intent to cooperate in the areas of defence, security and crisis management.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the document was signed by the Dominican Foreign Minister, Roberto Alvarez, and the UK Ambassador to the country, Mokbel Ali.
The information specified that in the first phase, the agreement stipulates that the Dominican government will acquire four AgustaWestland (AW169) advanced generation helicopters, with which it seeks to improve national aviation capacity, security work and disaster protection.
Similarly, sharing of good practices and knowledge in the above-mentioned areas is expected; As well as preparing specific programmes, projects and actions to promote international peace and security, respect for human rights, sustainable development and the promotion of democracy.
In this activity, Alvarez said: “It is no coincidence that we say that this agreement comes at a crucial moment in terms of the security and defense of our country, because the current reality dictates it, conditions in which we can only progress properly and prosper, without leaving anyone behind “.
For his part, Ali said, “We have signed an agreement in
defense, security and crisis management, which will continue to strengthen the leadership of the Dominican Republic in the region.
Both countries have recognized that the entities responsible for operating and coordinating the British Embassy and the Dominican Ministry of Defence.
