The community promotes itself in Northern Ireland through golf
The community led the organization of the ‘Murcia Region Masters 2022’ golf tournament, which took place in Northern Ireland and in the region, in which more than 700 Irish golfers participated, and which was completed with promotional work for the regional exposure of the sport.
This tournament started last April and has been played at the most important golf clubs in this country (Ardglass, Castlerock, Clandeboye, Dunmurry, Edenmore, Galgorm, Castle, Killymoon, Lougxh Erne Resort, Portadown and Whitehead). The final days, from November 14th to 18th, were held at the facilities of La Torre Golf Resort, Saurines and La Manga Club.
The competition concluded with an activity to promote the community golf show carried out by the Association of Golf Pioneers of the Region of Murcia (AiGolf) and technicians from the Tourism Institute (ITRIM).
The action has been directed at some major recipes in Northern Ireland, so the initiative will be able to reach 55,000 players in that part of the UK. This action is included in the strategy launched by the Ministry of the Presidency, Tourism, Culture and Sports in 2022 to promote the regional golf offer in Europe.
In the past 10 years, the region has recorded the greatest growth in golf courses in all of Spain, going from four courses in 2003 to 22 today in its four regions: Mar Menor, La Manga, Murcia City Golf and Wojuelas Golf Destination.
In 2019, the region received 165,000 golfing tourists and 2 million overnight stays, 2% more than in 2018. This activity generated direct spending of around €265 million, which is 8.1% of total spending related to the region. tourism sector
