The United States’ rejection of the electric car proposal is a Christmas present
About the Minister of Economy Tatiana ClotheerUS Senator Manchin’s announcement that he will not support a discriminatory proposal that includes tax incentives for electric cars is an early Christmas present.
He tweeted, “Looks like the Christmas present came early, we’re so [email protected] Because our efforts resonate, reinforcing the #Mx position against the incentive initiative for US-made electric vehicles.”
On Monday, he added, he spoke with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo about “the implications for the region.”
It all has to do with the announcement by US Senate Energy Committee Chairman Joe Manchin that he will not support the Build Back Better initiative, which includes incentives to buy and sell electric cars.
The proposal includes not only subsidies for those who buy electric cars, but also social support, infrastructure and transportation, among other things.
With regard to electric cars, it intends to give $7,500 in buying and selling this type of car regardless of origin, but it will also give an additional $500 if the battery is made in the United States and another $4,500 if the car is produced on US soil.
For Mexico and Canada, this proposal included in the Build Back Better initiative is discriminatory for armed vehicles in partner countries of the United States.
