The President of Peru begins his trip on Friday to Mexico and the United States
Lima, September 16 (EFE). – The President of Peru, Pedro Castillo, will start a trip to Mexico and the United States on Friday, where he will hold bilateral meetings and participate in the Sixth Summit of the Latin American and Caribbean Community. This first trip abroad for Castillo, who took over the Peruvian government on July 28, “reaffirms Peru’s commitment to multilateralism as an ideal environment for addressing cross-border problems,” the Peruvian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.

The State Department stressed that representatives from more than 30 countries will participate in the summit and the signing of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency’s Constitution Agreement and the creation of the Slack Comprehensive Disaster Response Fund is expected.
During his visit to Mexico, President Castillo will also meet with the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Barcena.
Next Monday, the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, will receive Castillo and Martua in Washington, after which they will participate in the session of the Permanent Council of that organization.
The Peruvian authorities will also meet with the Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa F-Etienne, and Peruvian and American businessmen from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).
On Tuesday, September 21, Castillo will receive the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in New York, and will subsequently participate in the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
