On Wednesday, the New Jersey Devils rolled out the red carpet to welcome their golden boy, Jack Hughes, who just brought Olympic glory for the former US of A.
The Rock was absolutely buzzing.
But if you thought the story of the night was going to be an easy pat on the stick for an American hero, you're not paying attention to the cultural fury of hockey fans right now.

Let's rewind for a moment.Last week, sports media luminaries and the eternal outrage machine cried foul over Tage Thompson and the boys daring to celebrate their Olympic triumph in a MAGA hat.Scary!
The dame pearl-clutching was off the charts.The leftist mob did everything they could to tear down the gold medal winning team because the boys wouldn't step on the line of promotion.
Well, hockey fans have had enough.
So when Mickey Sherrill, the Democratic governor of New Jersey, decided it would be a great PR move to take Hughes' Olympic brilliance to the ice during the primary ceremony, the fans let him have it.
And by "let him have it," we mean they unleashed a tidal wave of noises so loud they probably registered on the local Richter scale.
founder Clay Travis perfectly summed up the chaos at X:
"New Jersey Devils fans chant Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill as she is introduced. Hockey fans are over the Democratic attacks on a gold medal winning team. Love to see it."
But folks, the video doing the rounds on the internet doesn't even show the extent of the hostility.

Our very own Dan Zaksheske was in the building and answered Clay with grounded reality:
"Clay, this video doesn't do it justice. While I'm in the arena, I'm not sure I've ever heard a louder, longer boo. It lasted a full 10 seconds and you couldn't hear anything else the PA announcer said."
Ten straight seconds of deafening, soul-crushing rejection.
You just want to see it.
Ordinary Americans deal with the political spectrum, and certainly with politicians who align themselves with people trying to eliminate our athletes because of the "wrong" politics.
