Elder Scrolls inspired AAA RPG is twice as big as Skyrim, bigger than Red Dead

Crimson Desert, a new Elder Scrolls-inspired RPG, leaves Rockstar's western map in the dust

If you're a fan of The Elder Scrolls and Red Dead Redemption, this upcoming RPG might pique your interest.

When it comes to craftsmanship, beautiful, immersive and open worlds, it undoubtedly doesn't get much better than what the likes of Bethesda and Rockstar Games have to offer.

Over the years, whether it's books III: Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim, these worlds have provided countless epic adventures.The same can be said for series like Grand Theft Auto and Redemption of the Dead from Rockstar Games.

This is one of the main reasons why fans can't wait for the arrival of GTA VI and The Elder Scrolls VI.However, one has a release date later this year (assuming it doesn't get delayed again), and the other was announced almost eight years ago and still doesn't have a release date.

Before the arrival of GTA VI and certainly before The Elder Scrolls VI, RPG fans can look forward to the release of Crimson Desert, developed and published by indie studio Pearl Abyss.

The crimson desert is huge

"Crimson Desert is an adventure game world set in the beautiful but brutal region of Pywel," reads the game's description.

"Travel to Greymane Cliff and reclaim what was lost. Explore unknown lands, fight the threats that haunt you, and discover the wonders that the world has to offer."

From what I've seen of the gameplay trailers so far, it looks like Crimson Desert has the potential to be a fun RPG.Whether this will actually happen at launch, only time will tell.

However, the X Account, Culture Crave, and others have given Crimson Desert more attention.

In a tweet, Culture Crave highlights that Crimson Desert has been in development for about seven years.

You can ride a dragon, a bear, a raptor, drive a mecha, buy a house, hunt for riches, swing a web like Spider-Man, and more.

Perhaps even more impressively, the map for Crimson Desert is twice the size of Skyrim's Tamriel and larger than Red Dead Redemption 2. It will also have discoverable sky islands, perhaps

In my opinion, the only drawback is that Crimson Desert is a single-player game.Which is a shame, because it looks like it could be a great multiplayer game.

Crimson Desert will be released on March 19, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
