Apple can add features like AirPlay to CarPlay making Tesla integration better

Apple is said to be bringing native Apple TV support to CarPlay, just as Tesla is working on officially adding the infotainment system to its cars.

While rumors continue of Tesla adding CarPlay support to its cars, it is reported that Apple has made CarPlay more than a navigation and music tool, which makes it more attractive. While CarPlay does not currently support AirPlay, recent findings of iOS 26.4 betas suggest that Apple is laying the foundation for an AirPlay-like feature that will allow users to watch Apple TV directly on their car dashboard.

The discovery was first shared by MacRumors analyst Aaron Paris (@aaronp613), who found code showing a dedicated Apple TV experience in CarPlay.A specific message found in the code is: "When not driving, sign in to Apple TV on iPhone."It hints at the ability to play Apple TV movies and shows on your CarPlay screen, but it looks like it will be exclusive to Apple TV, at least at first. It will also have restrictions that prevent you from playing videos while driving.

As vehicle screens get bigger and more capable, a focus on in-car entertainment makes perfect sense.Apple appears to be working on an AirPlay-like feature for CarPlay that will allow users to wirelessly stream videos from their iPhone to their car's display.

This "parking only" restriction is key to safety and compliance. It looks like the system will use sensors on your phone or car data to determine whether or not you're moving. It could be a game-changer for electric car owners who want to pass the time while charging.

Apple TV is grabbing headlines, but it's easy to imagine how this could expand. It would be a big win if Apple eventually adds support for other heavy hitters like YouTube and Twitch.Tesla already offers a YouTube app for its users, and Apple CarPlay needs to match that level of versatility if it wants to remain the standard for infotainment.

What this means for Tesla owners

For years, Tesla has eschewed third-party systems like CarPlay and Android Auto in favor of its own proprietary software. This has forced owners to use internal solutions, such as the Tesla Android project, to have CarPlay on their screens.

However, the tides are turning.Tesla has reportedly been working on official Apple CarPlay support for some time, even enlisting the iPhone maker's help to iron out integration gaps between Apple Maps and Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system to ensure navigation messages are synced.

If Apple succeeds in integrating Apple TV into CarPlay, as Tesla has officially adopted the feature, it will create a large "key ecosystem" for iPhone users. For many EV buyers, being able to watch their favorite shows at the Supercharger station - all through the familiar Apple interface - could be the final piece of the puzzle.

SpaceX kicked off the month of March on a high note, completing a successful doubleheader weekend with two Falcon 9 launches in opposite directions on March 1, 2008.

Both missions were fully dedicated to the expansion of the Starlink mega-constellation and a total of 54 new satellites were successfully deployed into low Earth orbit.

Start on the west coast

The doubleheader started early Sunday morning on the West Coast.Just after 2:10 a.m. PT, a Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Center in California. It wasn't ordinary commercial satellites stuck in the payload fairing, but 25 Starlink satellites.Satellites are made to join the constellation.

The mission, officially designated Starlink 17-23, was also an important milestone for the specific booster hardware used. The first stage booster supporting this flight has completed its 20th successful mission, having previously launched several high-profile payloads including USSF-62, OneWeb Launch 20, NROL-145 and 16 other Starlink missions.

After the separation of the stage, the booster performed a series of harmless returns, landing on the Sure I Love You drone ship, which was placed in the Pacific Ocean (15:45 mark in the video).25 Starlink satellites were successfully deployed more than an hour after launch.

East Coast Watch

Just hours later, SpaceX mission control shifted its focus to the East Coast for the second half of this double launch. The second Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida 1-5, Nusantara Lima (PSN N5) and the previous 20 Starlink batches.

Like its West Coast counterpart, the 26-flight veteran booster successfully separated and stuck its landing (15:50 in the video), landing on the Just Read the Instructions drone in the Atlantic Ocean. The second stage continued with the successful deployment of the 29 Starlink satellites into their target orbit.

Setting the bar

This weekend's two launches are a perfect example of SpaceX's ultimate goal: launching a rocket into the same orbit as a commercial airline operation.

By maintaining a constant launch cadence across multiple active launch pads, SpaceX can quickly restore and expand the Starlink network and reduce the cost of getting into space by reusing safe boosters.

With dozens of new launches planned for 2026, we can expect to see a lot more of these two-headed SUVs as the year goes on.

Tesla has quietly removed all existing Model 3 inventory from its Canadian site, effectively clearing the space before a major change in Canada's auto trade policy takes effect.

With the official launch of Canada's newly established quota system for Chinese-made EVs, the sudden inventory wipeout suggests Tesla is preparing to resume importing Giga Shanghai-made Model 3s north of the border.

Mass Disappearance of Inventory Act

Over the weekend, Canadian customers who visited Tesla's website noticed a sudden change: the existing inventory of the Model 3 in all major markets was completely lost. While Tesla has yet to issue an official statement, it looks like all the unsold inventory previously appearing on the site is being shipped to the United States.

For now, the new Model 3 custom order option is technically still there, but it's hidden from the navigation menu and only accessible through a direct URL.More importantly, this hidden configurator's pricing still reflects the huge, inflated cost of importing American-made vehicles with a starting price of C$79,990.Tesla appears to be preparing for a major price correction related to the new Federal Trade Agreement by removing existing parts.

6.1% chance.

The sudden stock movement is fully consistent with the new federal policy launched on Sunday, March 1.After months of negotiations and a 100% surcharge imposed in 2024, the Canadian government has officially reopened the door to electric vehicles assembled in China under a strict and limited import permit regime.

According to the new rules and agreements, up to 49,000 Chinese manufacturers can enter the country each year, just under the 6.1% preferential rate. The government is gradually increasing this, with 24,500 special import permits issued for the first time, the first to work between March 1st and August 31 st.

Since there is no formal allocation by brand at launch, Tesla is well positioned to capitalize on the initial share immediately.

The return of the Giga Shanghai Model 3!

Before punitive tariffs essentially blocked Chinese electric vehicle imports in 2024, Tesla was the undisputed leader in bringing high-quality vehicles assembled in China to the Canadian market. In addition to offering extremely competitive prices for its vehicles by importing from Giga Shanghai, Tesla has also been able to use Chinese-made and Chinese-made batteries, including Chinese LFP batteries from CATL.

The first-served permit system is now active, and Tesla is going hard to secure a large portion of the initial 24,500 permits. It is likely that in the coming days, Tesla will officially relaunch the Model 3 in Canada with a huge discount, reducing the price inflation of Giga Shanghai's aggressive, low tariff cars.

This pivot could open the door for new trims and variants to enter the Canadian market, including the North American debut of the Model Y L.
