USA. – Lower house of US Congress approved White House stimulus package against coronovirus

The House of Representatives of the United States Congress this Saturday approved a $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package proposed by the White House to mitigate the devastating economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic in the country, and whose results in the Senate are uncertain.
Endorsements have been received with 219 votes in favor and 212 against, with nuances that two Democratic delegates from Oregon, Jared Golden, Maine and Kurt Schrader, have joined the Republicans against the motion.
Once in the Senate, Democrats envision a negotiation process with Republicans to amend certain aspects of the proposal. Once completed, they will send it back to the lower house for ratification.
The White House aims to settle those procedures before March 14, the last batch of unemployment benefits issued to Americans affected by the economic crisis.
US President Joe Biden wants to use this package of measures to stimulate the economy and create millions of new jobs. Among other things, it provides direct payments to private families, financing measures for coronavirus tests, and distribution of vaccines, as well as additional support for the unemployed.
The House’s vote expires in a week in which the death toll from coronaviruses in the United States has reached half a million and in which President Biden warned the nation not to become complacent.
