From November 8 to 12, the National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (Concytec) will present the projects funded by Prociencia, whose main aim is to help solve the problems caused by the covid-19 epidemic, within the framework of the second edition of the virtual exhibition Peru with science .
1. Repibas Samay breathing apparatus. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic affecting our country and all over the world, problems such as shortage of . have arisen Critical Care Respirators In the intensive care unit. As a result, the Peruvian Navy, through its Center for Scientific Research and Technological Development, developed a prototype respirator, which satisfactorily complied with the tests performed. In addition, he managed to get the approval of the Ministry of Health for its use at the national level.
2. Low cost spirometer. The Peruvian University of Applied Sciences has developed a low-cost spirometer, on a digital platform, with access to mobile applications used in organizations providing health services to monitor and diagnose rehabilitation patients, ensuring the privacy of patients’ data.
3. A rapid molecular test to diagnose COVID-19. Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) will present two projects. The first is the development and validation of a rapid isothermal molecular assay for the detection of SARSCoV-2, as an alternative to quantitative real-time PCR. It consists of a specific and highly sensitive molecular method, and its implementation requires approximately 2-3 hours of time with trained personnel and well-executed molecular biology laboratories.
4. Active community monitoring system. The second UPCH project was developed in Loreto County with the goal of developing an active community surveillance system for suspected COVID-19 cases, managed through a mobile application and training program for community agents of health in the Peruvian Amazon.
