From welder to movie star: The protagonist is no longer here, he tells Netflix details of his life

Mexico City, February 9 (however). – Juan Daniel Garcia, the hero of the successful film, I am not here anymore, participated in a little video clip about his life story and how it changed after the success of the film, which won the Best Actor Awards and was among the fifteen films that reached the finals to compete for the Oscar.

Before becoming a Netflix star, Juan Daniel was a welder in his native Monterrey; But one of his dreams was to become a famous musician, so he formed a band with his cousin, brothers and mother as a singer, without even imagining that this was the first step to becoming an actor.

The opportunity knocked on his door when he was offered to be the opening show for Celso Peña, after the concert, Juan Daniel recalls, some people approached him to offer to participate in a movie.

The young actor revealed that he faced several obstacles, starting from the day of the casting he had to dance and he did not know, but that was not an obstacle to audition, and in the end he was chosen to star in not here anymore.

When the movie was actually filmed, he had to obtain his visa to finish filming some of the scenes, but they refused on several occasions, and the embassy did not give him the opportunity to explain to them why he needed to travel to the United States.

“The most difficult thing that was made for me in recording the film was the visa because they refused me so many times that I did not finish telling them things and they told me, ‘No, your visa is rejected,’ that is, they cut me in the middle of the conversation, and they came and stamped that your visa is rejected.”

After several attempts, he obtained the required visa and was able to travel. Once in New York, he revealed that he became feeling like Ulysses, his character on the tape, because he couldn’t communicate because everything was in English.

“I got to New York and most of the time I felt like Ulysses because I didn’t know anything, and I didn’t understand anything. One day they told me you have a vacation today, jump in, do whatever you want. And I don’t want to go out, I don’t know anything, I’ll miss everything. It’s English, and the numbers are in English.

The actor also made it clear that he had never imagined the success the movie would bring and the less it would win the movie awards. Well, during the premiere, I managed to fill in Aula Magna de Monterrey and they said they had to put a screen on outside due to the number of people who stayed outside, and no matter how cold they were, they stayed there to watch the movie.

“This was where I felt my first approach towards people, towards the Monterey squad. Suddenly I left (Aula Magna) and I look like this to see the line and I see that all these people were outside and when they saw me they said, ‘Look this is the man’ and I went in and told my mom, ‘Everyone knows I am Outside “.
