The Ecuadorean Football Federation announced, on Sunday, that Ecuador, which ranked third in the South American qualifiers for Qatar 2022, called up its first eleven players for the next and decisive matches against Brazil and Peru.
The partial team includes four soccer players from teams in the United States and one from Mexico.
The trio (the third with 23 points) will meet Brazil (the leaders with 35 points) on January 27 at Rodrigo Paz Stadium in Quito, in the fifteenth date of the regional qualifiers.
The next day, scheduled for February 1, Ecuador will visit Peru (5th place with 17 units and -5 goal difference).
And the strategist for the Argentine tricolor team, Gustavo Alvaro, estimated in his recent statements to a radio station in his country, “With a score of four points, we are safe in the World Cup, or with three other points and a goal difference.”
“We are close, but now the hardest thing missing is closure,” he added.
Brazil and its companion Argentina (with a score of 29) have already qualified for the Qatar Championship.
