The United States Secretary of National Security, Alejandro Meyercas, has asked Haitians and Cubans not to attempt to immigrate to the United States by sea as a result of the situation facing both Caribbean countries in recent days.

Mayerkas said on his Twitter account, “We are monitoring any activity that may indicate an increase in unsafe and unregulated sea migration in the Straits of Florida,” and warned Haitians and Cubans that, “if They jump into the sea, enter the United States.”
