Climate Connect Digital – Carbon neutrality achieved in fiscal year 2021-2022
Today, the leading provider of climate technology solutions, released its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory for the 2021-22 fiscal year (April 2021 through March 2022), announcing the implementation of offsetting actions. The GHG Inventory Report covers the global business activities of all your workers, all employees, trainees and consultants, including the UK, Spain, Malaysia and India.
Under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the CCD can only calculate Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. The company’s Scope 2 emissions from electricity purchased at its rented offices have been estimated to be just over one ton of carbon dioxide equivalent. Scope 3 emissions, which include activities such as business travel, use of cloud servers at a customer’s domain, transmission and distribution losses, and working from home, were calculated at 141,179 CO2eq. It should be noted that work-from-home emissions account for a significant portion of Scope 3.
To offset these emissions, CCD has purchased high-quality offsets from a mix of renewable (VCU-1946) and nature-based (VCU-1477) projects registered in Verra. The CCD understands that offsets are not a long-term solution, but an effective short-term step towards global emissions reduction goals. The company is committed to discovering new ways to reduce its carbon footprint and doing its best to implement them quickly.
The Emissions Assessment Disclosure Report and the Offset Report have been prepared as per the GHG Protocol and India GHG Program Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard methodology. Emissions data has been verified by TUV India Pvt. external auditors. Ltd (see TUV report here).
Nitin Tanwar, Company Founder and Head of Ecosystems, commented from London: “Carbon accounting is the first step in reaching the goal of net zero emissions. Work from home policies caused by the pandemic have dramatically changed the mix of Scope 3 emissions. As a global net zero service provider, We understand the complexities of managing carbon data and place the utmost importance on data integrity. For this reason, we have chosen to have our emissions verified by an external auditor, although there is no obligation to do so.
