KALIBO – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Aklan is intensifying its efforts to process more land title applications as part of the celebration of Environment Month this June.
The Community Environment and Natural Resources offices in Kalibo and Boracay are working hard to process at least 800 residential patent applications, of which, 500 for CENRO-Kalibo and 300 for CENRO-Boracay.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced it is now accepting nominations of candidates.

TO LESSEN the prevalence of Iron Deficiency Anemia among children and pregnant women, the National Food Authority (NFA) is promoting the use of i-Rice or Iron fortified rice.
In the latest 2008 National Nutrition Survey conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), Iron Deficiency Anemia is prevalent among children 6 months to less than a year old, as well as pregnant and lactating mothers.
This prompted the development of i-Rice, a mixture of white milled rice and I-Mix or iron rice premix processed through fortification or addition of minerals.

The Social Security System (SSS) announced its new guidelines on contribution payments of voluntary members aged 65 and above who lack the required 120 monthly SSS contributions mandated by law to qualify for retirement pensions. SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emilio de Quiros, Jr. called on members who are 65 years old or over prior to April 1, 2013, but have not reached the required member contributions of 120 months to qualify for retirement pension, to continue paying the remaining months after they file an application on or before July 1, 2013.

In Iloilo City, Archbishop Angel Lagdameo will celebrate a Mass in Jaro Cathedral on his feast day at 6 p.m., while priests will be available to hear confessions beginning at 5 p.m.

THE municipality of Mina on June 9 opened its Balay Paglaum that will cater to Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL), women and children.

DSWD regional director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre lauded the local government of Mina for its initiative.

“Isa ako sa sumasaludo sa opisyal ng Mina. This is only a fifth class municipality but because you have aimed high, kayo lang ang merong Balay Paglaum. Maliit man ang Mina at fifth class, maliit ang kita, pero napakalaki ng inyong puso,” she said.
