Carlos Alcaraz wins Wimbledon defeating Novak Djokovic in an epic match
Madrid (Europe Press) – Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the Wimbledon Championships, the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season that is being played on the grass in London (United Kingdom), by defeating Serbian Novak in the final. This Sunday Djokovic is 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
Alcaraz served as the best player in the world, number one, against the all-time favorite. Djokovic, who was looking for his fifth consecutive title on the London turf, eighth in total and 24th “big”, knelt before the Spaniard, who a month ago was mired in pressure in the semifinals at Roland Garros.
Murcian’s progression has no end, in just two years as a professional. After winning his first title on grass three weeks ago in Queens, the man from El Palmar brought his expert repertoire to beat the Serb’s best start. With nerves of steel this time around, the Spaniard turned to the final despite suffering a reaction from the Serbian giants in an epic fourth quarter.
In the fifth set and nearly five hours after the final, Alcaraz won his second ‘big’ after the 2022 US Open, the sixth title of 2023 and twelfth title in total. Twenty-year-old schoolboy Juan Carlos Ferrero and the world’s number one defender against the second seed, this year’s champion from Australia and Roland Garros, stopped “Noll”, who had to bow before the oncoming relay in Alcaraz.
