Amazon Sports? They revealed that the company is planning a sports content app
Reuters. – It reported on Wednesday that Amazon is working on a standalone app for watching sports content the informationwho cited a source with direct knowledge of the plan.
Sports remains one of the biggest draws to live viewing as American audiences increasingly shift from pay TV to subscriptions to streaming apps.
The move likely complements AMZN.O’s efforts by Amazon to double down on sports programming on its Prime Video service, a key channel for attracting consumers to its shopping platform.

Amazon already owns the rights to broadcast games like the National Football League (NFL) Thursday Night Football franchise and Premier League soccer games in the UK, allowing it to better compete with sports broadcast leader Walt Disney Co. DIS.N.E.
Last week, Alphabet Inc’s GOOGL.O YouTube unit also signed a multi-year deal to stream the NFL’s Sunday Ticket game package in the US.
According to the report, it is not clear when Amazon will launch the sports app and if it will go ahead with the plan.
