Al-Shifa Hospital raid one of the single largest operations in the war: Israeli military sources
Israeli military sources have hailed the weeklong raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza as one of the most successful operations in the ongoing conflict with Hamas. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that senior Hamas terrorists were using the hospital for terrorist activities, leading to their decision to storm the facility.
During the raid, more than 800 men were detained, with approximately 480 of them identified as Hamas or Islamic Jihad members. Special intelligence units are currently interrogating the detainees, and over 140 Hamas terrorists have been reportedly killed in the operation.
The operation at Al-Shifa Hospital is expected to continue for several more days, with an estimated 3,000 civilians believed to be sheltering within the facility. Reports have emerged of buildings in the vicinity being detonated, leaving 3,000 Gazans trapped with limited access to food and water.
An Israeli official has stated that militants are holed up inside the hospital and are being called upon to surrender. Sources within Gaza have confirmed the desperate conditions at the hospital, alleging that Hamas members have regrouped there.
There have been claims that Hamas is misusing hospitals for its operations and storing weapons. This is not the first time Al-Shifa Hospital has been the target of IDF raids during conflicts with Hamas, with international organizations previously highlighting the dire situation at the facility.
