Economie. New customs regulations due to Brexit forces DB Schenker to suspend services to the UK
Madrid, 14 (Europe Press)
DB Schenker has temporarily stopped accepting new orders to move goods to the UK due to new customs procedures and protocols that must now apply to shipments between the European Union and this country due to Brexit.
According to the German operator, about 90% of customs documents submitted for DB Schenker orders are incomplete or contain errors, as their clients do not complete them according to the new rules.
For this reason, the company has appointed a specially trained team to manage this to help customers complete the required customs documents correctly. And he warns that “any shipment with incomplete or wrong paperwork delays the departure of the associated shipment, as the goods that have not been properly announced cannot be delivered to their destinations.”
In this context, DB Schenker was forced to temporarily suspend acceptance of new shipments to the UK and announced that shipments already dispatched would be delivered “as soon as possible”.
With the UK withdrawing from the European Union, these documents must include proof of origin, an invoice in accordance with current customs regulations and a customs clearance document for processing customs clearance. The importer must also issue a customs power of attorney and provide all relevant customs information, such as the UK customs tariff product code.
