United States: DoT has launched a dashboard for travelers affected by flight delays and cancellations
On the eve of Labor Day, which will be celebrated in the United States on Monday, September 5, a Department of Transportation (DoT) The country has launched a new help panel with the aim of making airline customers aware of their rights in the event of cancellations and rescheduling of their itineraries.
Two weeks ago, Pete Buttigieg, the Secretary of National Transportation, wrote a letter to the CEOs of US airlines. In the text, it informed managers that the government agency would publish the board before Labor Day and urged airlines to improve their customer service plans.
According to the state agency, nine of the country’s ten largest airlines have made significant changes to improve services provided in cases of cancellations or delays attributable to their own problems. After the message was sent, nine of them included emergency meals and eight guaranteed accommodation for the affected passengers.
A new tool for easier access to information
The main objective of the panel presented today is to ensure that customers have easy access to information regarding the legal obligations of operators in these cases.

The new tool provides a unified space where you can learn about the services that airlines must guarantee in the event of non-compliance with planned flight schedules for reasons attributable to companies, such as mechanical problems of aircraft or lack of personnel for various reasons. In addition, it records the actions that each one promised to take.
“Passengers deserve transparency and clarity about what they can expect from an airline when there is a cancellation or disruption,” Pete Buttigieg said. “This dashboard brings information together in one place, so that travelers can easily understand their rights, compare airline practices and make informed decisions,” he added.
In addition, the department’s Office of Aviation Consumer Protection (OACP) recently completed an investigation and is pursuing enforcement actions against airlines that have caused significant delays in reimbursement for non-performing segments.
