China successfully tested its first reusable sub-orbital spacecraft

Aerospace science and technology institute China CASC has announced that it has successfully completed flight testing of its first multipurpose semi-orbital ascent vehicle developed by its engineers.

In a statement issued by the agency, they confirmed that the engines of the rocket used in the flight test ignited correctly, allowing the rocket to successfully rise vertically at the Jiuqian Space Center in the province of Inner Mongolia (North).

After making a suborbital flight in accordance with the predetermined parameters, the craft descended to the surface again, and landed without problems and horizontally at Alax Youqi Airport, which is located 800 km from the launch base.

No further information was provided in this regard, such as altitude, flight duration or propulsion systems, nor photos or footage of the vehicle.

CASC described the test as “a significant advance in the development of China The reusable teleportation technologies represent the country’s first step in achieving innovative and independent development in this field.

Earlier in August, CASC also announced the launch of a mysterious, reusable “test spacecraft” into Earth orbit.

The first of these trials was conducted in September 2020, but no further data was obtained from them.

Sub-orbital vehicles, which are used to send payloads 100 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, can serve a variety of purposes, such as carrying satellites, space analyst Song Zhongping told the official Global Times.
