Jalisco makes history for the Tokyo Olympics – Occidental
The opening day of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020+1 is approaching, Jalisco made history, being the entity that contributes the most athletes to the Mexican delegation, adding a total of 13% of those who will make the trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.
It will be July 23 when the Olympics will be launched in a version that has been postponed due to the pandemic issues and which now has to be played without an audience in the stands.
Mexico will make the trip with a total of 162 athletes striving for maximum glory, 21 of whom represent Jalisco, and have the motto that history does not stay in numbers and that they are able to add medals to the country.

Jalisco’s best mark was at the Olympics in Rio 2016, when he was in a delegation of 125 athletes, 15 of whom were from Jalisco, accounting for 12%.
On the other hand, at the 2012 London Summer Fair, 13 Jalisco went to the UK, on that occasion this represents 12.7%.
These numbers do not count Jalisco residents who were part of the soccer team.
Of the 21 Jalisco who went to Tokyo, only golfer Carlos Ortiz and sailor Juan Ignacio Perez, did not develop under the state’s sporting system.
In addition, although they do not officially represent Jalisco in national competitions, there are four born in the Olympic entity, Haramara Gaitán of badminton who now represents Nuevo Leon.
Rut Castillo is a rhythmic gymnast, who is Guadalajara by birth but represents Nuevo Leon, as well as mountain biker Gerardo Ulloa who represents Guanajuato. This same situation was experienced by marathon runner Jesus Esparza, from Jalisco by birth but representing Aguascalientes.
Likewise, it is highlighted that three of those selected, going to Tokyo, completed their periodic training at the blog’s facilities. These are the track racer from Sinaloa Daniela Gaxiola, Gabriela Agúndez from Southern California in the diving specialty, and Kevin Berlin from Veracruz, also diving.
