The national government announced its arrival to Colombia 3.5 million doses of Moderna vaccines, donated by the US government, through which the country will boost vaccination to combat COVID-19.
As reported by the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, the distribution of the first 500,000 begins today and 2.7 million will be allocated immediately for the first doses.
“These vaccines arriving will be critical in protecting the lives of Colombians,” said President Ivan Duque. “Once again, my gratitude and message to Colombians is to vaccinate ourselves widely so that this is the path to safe reactivation.”
For his part, Philip Goldberg, the US ambassador to Colombia.
I had the pleasure of joining on this important occasion, and congratulating her
Colombia “to reach more than 11 million Colombians entirely
Vaccination “This progress is extraordinary,” Goldberg said.
It must be remembered that on Saturday the Colombian health authorities discovered the presence of the delta variant (B.1.617.2) in the country.
In view of this, the President confirmed that he was a Cali citizen, had traveled to the United States and developed symptoms the next day. When the PCR assay was performed, the infection was demonstrated and by genetic sequencing, it was confirmed that the infection was a product of the delta variant.
