Samsung has a problem with the consistency of its flagship Galaxy phones. It seems we constantly have to wonder what chipsets are coming to the next phone and whether Samsung will offer Qualcomm chips or its own Equinos brand. And so far, the Galaxy S26 series has proven to be no exception.
There is speculation that the upcoming Galaxy S26 could see the return of Exynos chips in some markets, instead of dragging the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on all models. Now, according to evidence seen by SamMobile we can see the Exynos/Qualcomm division separated by device type.
The site claims that both the Galaxy S26 (or 26 Pro, as it's rumored to be called) and the Galaxy S26 Plus will be powered by an Exynos 2600 chip. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26 Edge are said to come with the newly revealed Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
While using its own chips can help Samsung keep costs down for upcoming phones, there's always been a bit of a disconnect between Exynos and Snapdragon chips.
On the same day, the site announced that four models from the US and China could come with the chips. This is not surprising since Samsung is outside of the US, and you can usually get US flagged chips.
Again, since the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is powered by the Exynos 2500 globally, we can't be 100% certain that the US will stick with Exynos.
While Samsung could use its own chips which could help keep the costs of upcoming phones low, there has always been a bit of a split between Exynos and Snapdragon chips. The former has a reputation for not offering as much performance, especially since Samsung often uses an exclusive Snapdragon chip that offers even better performance than the standard chip.
So the prospect of a Galaxy S26 with two tiers of performance, depending on where it's bought, isn't exactly ideal.
But we don't feel like the future to the future to the galaxy S26 and the new news and new news and new news and sample galaxy stops.
