HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A "nightmare" on Hollywood Boulevard joins the Walk of Fame!Actor Robert Englund has had a successful career spanning over four decades. But now, in a gleefully terrifying ceremony, England saw his star unveiled in front of hundreds of adoring fans.

It takes a lot of work to be successful in Hollywood. Englund rose to the top thanks to his iconic role as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

For this special ceremony, England and his fans transformed the Hollywood Walk of Fame into the Mime Walk of Fame.

"I'm on my third generation of fans now ... I've developed this huge fan base, which is great for an old dog like me," England said.

It's been 41 years since Englund first starred in "A Nightmare on Elm Street."That gore film sparked seven more productions... and launched Freddie Kruer to the top of the horror charts.

"If you ask any fan around the world today, 'Who are the Scarecrows?'They would say Freddy, Jason, Michael, Ghostface, Chucky and now Art the Clown, probably in that order.Freddie is always first!Always!"Director Eli Roth said.

Of course, if the person who created Freddie Krueger wants to get a star on his walk, it only happens one day a year.So this Halloween season is not lost on so many fans.

"For the most terrifying vision of all time, you couldn't write this script any better," said Adrian Presziado.

Like Freddy, the film's murderous reputation is hard to kill.Fans like Rob Atchley are ready to stand up for England if another sequel is ruined.

"I could have invested over $1,000 in it, but hat, I'm going to take the hat of the body," he said.

As a 78 year old actor, there won't be another Faddy Creeder movie in the near future... but hey - he already cut it as an actor/cameraman.
