WASHINGTON (AP) – Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Corey Booker announced Sunday that they have tested positive for COVID-19 as the United States grapples with a new spike in infections and the spread of the Omicron variant .
In separate releases, legislators indicated they have a complete vaccination program in place with two doses and a booster, and both have mild symptoms. He encouraged the population to receive all three doses of the vaccine if eligible.
“Luckily, I experience only mild symptoms and am grateful for the protection that vaccines and boosters provide against serious illness,” Warren tweeted.
The senator did not elaborate on where she might have been infected, but assured that she undergoes routine diagnostic tests and tested negative for COVID-19 this week. Spokesmen for his office did not respond to an email requesting comment.
Warren was on Capitol Hill this week with other senators. Democrats are trying to gain approval for the $2 trillion “Let’s Build Better” social and environmental initiative promoted by President Joe Biden.
In a statement from his office, Booker said: “I am very grateful for two doses of the vaccine and, most recently, a booster. I am sure without them it would be much worse”.
