The first IKEA store is located in Bogota and will open in April 2023

Bogota, Envigado and Cali will be the cities whose doors you will see how Ikea. The Swedish company, which specializes in the manufacture and sale of flat furniture, mattresses, electrical appliances and household items, announced that it will start operations in Colombia next year.

Among the details of the arrival of the multinational company, its possible start of operations in April 2023 stands out, more precisely in Bogota in the Mall Plaza shopping center. The area allocated for its first store in the capital is not less than 13,000 square meters.

As for the store in Envigado, it is expected that it will be 12,000 square meters and the plant will start operating from the second half of 2024 in the Viva Envigado shopping center.

In Cali, for its part, it has not yet been confirmed where or where the store will be located, but, as in Antioquia, operations in this region of the country will begin in 2024.

The arrival of the retail giant was achieved as a result of an agreement with the Falabella Group, so that in addition to Colombia, Peru will also have the arrival of IKEA. “Falabella brings his extensive experience in the development and successful operation of a retail business. Together we are determined to make IKEA valuable and meaningful to customers and society,” said Maria Johansson, the company’s director of expansion at the time.

The multinational company currently has a presence in countries in Asia, Europe and Oceania, while firmly establishing itself in the United States and Canada. In the region, IKEA is present in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Uruguayso its arrival marks a strong expansion towards the continent.
