Taiwan: Taiwan denounced 37 more Chinese fighter jets crossing its airspace for the second day in a row
Madrid, June 9 (European press) –
The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense reported that 37 other Chinese combat aircraft crossed its airspace for the second day in a row, in addition to monitoring five warships in the vicinity of the island.
The Armed Forces of the Republic of China monitored the incursions that came from the southwest and southeast of the island, and allocated CAP aircraft, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems to respond to these activities, according to what the ministry posted on Twitter. account.
The escalation of tensions in the region began with a trip to the island by the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, in August last year. The situation worsened after Taiwan’s President, Tsai Ing-wen, visited the North American country, where she met several members of the US Congress despite warnings from Beijing.
Taiwan has had an independent government since 1949, but China considers the area under its sovereignty. The Chinese government’s basic policy towards Taiwan has so far been a policy of peaceful reunification under the principle of “one country, two systems”.
