SP approves P157.5M Cyber Center loan

Bacolod City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental unanimously approved the P157.5 million proposed loan for the completion of Phase 2 of Negros First Cyber Center, on Wednesday’s regular session.

Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP Committee on Budget and Appropriations, confirmed to The Daily Guardian that “It was unanimously approved by all SP members present” with only Board Member Raul Rivera absent.

Silay City hosts World Shoot Qualifier

BACOLOD City – More than 400 practical shooters will see action in the 3rd World Shoot Qualifier in Silay City, Negros Occidental August 8 to 11, 2013.

The event is sponsored by the Gun Club of Negros Occidental in cooperation with the city government of Silay headed by Mayor Jose Montelibano.

The main match is set August 9-11.

Negrense joins PHL Team to Asian Youth Games

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental High School track star Mary Anthony Diesto is joining the Philippine delegation to the 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China August 16-24, 2013.

The Filipino athletes will leave for Nanjing August 17.

Diesto, 16, is also among the 115 young athletes from various countries who participated in the 2013 5th Asian School Games in Hanoi, Vietnam last June 22 to 30. She placed sixth in the 100-meter run and seventh in long jump.

MEXICAN boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez believes his Filipino rival, Manny Pacquiao, is baiting him when the “Pacman” claimed that “Dinamita” got lucky in their fourth fight last December.

With each boxer having already touched the canvas once, Marquez turned the fight in his favor when he connected on a short right hand with just a second to go in the sixth round, knocking the Filipino boxer out cold.
