ILONGGO booters lost to Negros Occidental in the men’s tertiary and secondary football championships of the 2019 Western Visayas Private Regional Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) in Bacolod City, March 6.
Iloilo PRISAA lost to Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) in the men’s tertiary level, 5-0.
Represented by the Central Philippine University, Iloilo had chance to wrap up the series after beating Negros in Game 1 but the latter forced a decider in Game 2. Negros eventually won Game 3 in dominating fashion.
Iloilo also fell short in the secondary boys’ football after losing to Negros in the penalty shootout, 4-3.
Edwin Caro Laru-an of ILOPRISAA said the team did a great job but victory was not meant for them.
“NOPSSCEA is a better team on that day sa playoffs. Both teams gusto magdaog and our team did a great job in three games but amo lang na ang ginhatag sang Gino-o so batunon ta ina,” he added.
Meanwhile, NOPSSCEA duplicated their sterling performances after winning the secondary girls’ volleyball finals at the expense of Iloilo. The winning team is comprised of Bea Louise Gapusan, Lorien Gamboa and Julianne Javelosa.
ILOPRISAA squad includes Cris Ann Susbilla, Sheena Faldas, Kristine Ancheta and Rovy Amuan.
The Ilonggos, however, beat Negros in secondary boys’ beach volleyball.
