THE head coach of University of the Philippines (UP) Women’s Volleyball team, Godfrey Owese Okumu, will arrive in Bacolod City for the 4th JGM Invitational Volleyball Tournament (secondary girls born 2001) on May 18-20, 2018.
According to Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) vice president for sports Jose Montalbo, Okumu is the guest speaker in the opening of the volleyball tournament before inducting the new set of officers of the Negros Federation of Volleyball Enthusiasts, Inc. later in the evening.
“We are happy to announce that Coach Okumu will be giving a free volleyball clinic on May 19, 2018, in the afternoon at Bacolod Tay Tung High School. The clinic will be open to everybody from 12 years old up. He will be assisted by celebrated UP volleyball players, Diana Mae “Tots” M. Carlos, Maria Lina Isabel M. Molde, and Ma. Arielle L. Estranero,” Montalbo added.
Estranero, who is from Bacolod City, will deliver an inspirational talk in the opening of the 4th JGM Invitational.
A total of 15 powerhouse volleyball teams in the Visayas and other regions are set to compete in the 4th JGM Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) covered court.
Host teams Tay Tung A and B will face other Bacolod-based teams – Living Stone International School, Trinity Christian School, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and the University of St. La Salle; Murcia Selection, La Carlota City Selection, Pontevedra Selection, and Don Bosco-Dumaguete.
Teams from Ateneo de Cebu, Ateneo de Iloilo, Bingawan Selection, University of San Agustin-Iloilo, and Assumption Antipolo (Rizal province) will also see action in the weekend events.
