Tay Tung, Silay rule volleyball tilt

TEAMS from Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) Thunderbolts and Silay City selection captured two titles in the Philippine Volleyball Federation -Tanduay Athletics Volleyball at the Montalbo covered court in Bacolod City, March 12, 2019.

The Thunderbolts took home the title in the U-15 category after blasting Calvary Baptist Academy in the gold medal match, thanks to Sophie Cagalawan’s good showing.

The team coached by Charisse Neri is composed of Amber Lily Biong, Sandy Sta. Rita, Jothea Ramos, Ana Hermosura, Alijah Ysulan, Jermaine Joniega, AJ Palo, Jihan Chuatico, Dannah Saloria, and Antheia Galicia.

Other teams that participated in the U-15 were Talisay, Murcia National High School, Mabini Elementary School, Rizal Elementary School, Negros Occidental High School, and FMT Volleyball Club.

Meanwhile, Silay selection pocketed the championship in the under 18 category after defeating Bata National High School in the finals. Honey Grace Cordero was hailed best player of the tournament.

Other competing teams in the U-18 are Negros Occidental High School, Himamaylan National High School, St. Scholastica’s Academy, Pulupandan National High School, La Carlota National High School, and Bacolod City High School.

Organized by the NEFVEI in partnership with the Philippine Volleyball Federation, Wow TMR and Tanduay Athletics, the event is a grassroots program to discover potential volleyball players in Negros Occidental.
