SRIA regains Visayas SBP-Passerelle crown

ST. ROBERT’S International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets was crowned champion of the 2018 SBP-Passerelle division at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School covered gym on Nov. 4.

It was a double celebration for the team as head coach John Guanco also marked his birthday that week.

Led by Gwyn Miles Pendon, Kent John Parrenas and John Lester Amagan, SRIA survived Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 66-58, during their championship match.

Panda Rockets will represent Visayas in the SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournament National Finals in Pampanga later this month.

“It’s all about heart and work that we put in. It’s a process of puting a work since they were elementary days up to now, updanay na kami. The chemistry that we posses also resulted to our victory. Thanks to all our supporters and parents,” Guanco said.

In the Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP) category, St. John’s Institute (SJI) of Bacolod City lost to University of Visayas, 56-52.
