Silay native is new face of FINIS Philippines

A 12-year-old swimmer from Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental recently signed up as the new ambassadress of FINIS Philippines.

Alexi “Apple” Cabayaran caught the attention of the national scouts after her sterling performances in swimming.

FINIS Philippines took interest on the exemplary performance of the multi-tilted 6th Grader Palarong Pambansa swimmer – who at her age is already qualified to compete in the Southeast Asian Games Age Group competitions.

At the age of 9, Cabayaran already won medals in the Palaro and several age-group competitions.

Recently, she snatched gold medals in nine events of the 4th Don Generoso Villanueva Sr. Age Group Swim Invitational Championship staged at the Sta. Fe Resort.

She also dominated the last Milo swimming competition by winning gold medals in nine events and shattering Milo records in 400m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and, 100m butterfly.

Trained by veteran coach Edmon Chua, Cabayaran said she felt very happy being chosen to be part of FINIS.

“I’m more determined to work harder to reach my dream and become a national swimmer and represent the country,” she added.

FINIS Philippines started being the Official Swim Partner of the Palarong Pambansa in 2016 in Legazpi City, Albay then followed by San Jose de Buenavista, Antique for 2017, and at Vigan City, Ilocos Sur for 2018.
