THREE members of Taekwondo Association of Passi City (TAPC) also captured medals in the National Inter-school Taekwondo Championships at the Rizal Memorial Stadium last Sept 30, 2017.
The squad led by Allamelech Jannu Palmares of Assumption Passi clinched the silver medal in Category 2 Boys. He lost his finals match with a one point deficit.
Leigh Yvaine Cia also took home the bronze medal in the Novice Elementary Group 1 while Frorenz Padernilla of Passi I Central School also won the bronze in the same category.
According to TAPC president Janice Pagayon-Palmares, their athletes were very impressive, especially that all their players returned home with a medal.
“We are happy with our victory. It is a great achievement for the TAPC in our first attempt here,” Palmares said.
The 4-day taekwondo tournament, which featured Kyorugi (sparring) and poomsae (form) competition, was attended by 1,500 student-athletes across the country.
Other participating schools include Ateneo de Manila, University of Santo Tomas, St. Paul (Pasig), Diliman Preparatory School, Mary Hill School, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Montessori Integrated School, De La Salle University, University of the East, National University, Philippine Science High School, School of Holy Spirit, University of the Philippines Diliman, De La Salle University Araneta, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela.
