A total of P20 million budget has been approved by San Carlos City local government for the proposed development of a sports stadium.
According to Mayor Gerardo Valmayor, Jr. the city will still need more money to complete the project, citing they will base the additional budget on the availability of funds.
“We will not seek for loans just to finish it. We will look for sponsors for the completion of this stadium,” he added.
The city is planning to build on a recently-acquired 5.8 hectare property along the city’s circumferential road. Part of the development includes the construction of standard track oval, an Olympic size swimming pool, and international football facility.
“This stadium will serve as a boon to local business, with more hotels and restaurants planned in anticipation for an increase in visitors to the city,” the mayor shared.
He also revealed the city lacks hotel rooms to accommodate the huge number of participants coming for various tournaments. “The private sector has promised to help the local government address these issues.”
The city along with the Schools Division of San Carlos has around P10 million annual budget devoted to the city’s sports program intended for the conduct of sports programs and training.
