Negros Occidental assures support to local athletes

THE province of Negros Occidental guaranteed local athletes of solid support in local, national and international tournaments.

The assurance was made during the recognition of Negrense jin Angeline Uy Alcantara who captured the lone goal medal for the Philippines in the recent 2017 World Cadet Taekwondo Championships in Egypt.

Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano called on elected officials to support local athletes who can bring honor and pride not just to the province but the country as well.

“We already produced a champion while representing the county and this could be her shot at the Olympics. “Being able to help these athletes is like building their future,” Montelibano added.

Montelibano also expressed his appreciation for supporting local athletes and giving them cash rewards.

Governor Alfredo Marañon made gave Alcantara P50,000 as cash incentive for her training and development.

“There are a lot of sports that Filipinos can excel. Here in our province, there are many potential athletes especially in taekwondo, boxing, football, sepak-takraw, baseball/softball, and even ball games. Let’s just show them our solid support so that they will be motivated in every game,” shared Montelibano.
