A 26-YEAR-OLD boxer from Negros Occidental reaped the fruits of his hardship as he knocked down his Indonesia foe in the 5th round of the Survival Instinct: Matira Matibay to claim the featherweight belt at SM City North EDSA Skydome, May 13, 2018.
Genesis “Kashimi” Servania, a pride of Bacolod City, unleashed solid punches to stop Jason Butar Butar 2:04 minutes into the 5th round of their match.
With the victory, Servania improved his record with 31 wins, including 14 knockouts.
The Negrense boxer lost his first comeback fight in the Philippines in 2015. He also suffered defeat at the hands of Oscar Valdez in 2017 during their World Boxing Organization World Featherweight crown match.
In his media interview, Servania said he looks forward to bigger fights soon. He’s also happy that his countrymen always support him even if he’s already based in Japan.
On the other hand, Filipino Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga maintained his unblemished record of 9-0 via unanimous decision victory over Colombian Gabriel Mendoza in the main event of the night.
