Trained by veteran taekwondo head coach Denmark Pinggol, the team was named overall champion in the regional games which gathered more than 200 jins across Western Visayas.
The gold medalists in the elementary girls and boys are Sophia Grace Go, Samantha Go, Aiken Avaricio, Niesha Pequierda, Elizabeth Marie Borres, Conrad Joseph Pido, Cyd Esmana, Sheine Nicole De Asis, and Josh Carl Macahilig.
Amelia Victoria, and Roivic John Decafe snatched the silver medal while Eliana Jamille Comuelo and Elisha Venice Aguilar were awarded bronze medals.
“The match was a learning experience to my daughter since she had to face taller opponent in the cadet division. I told her, win or loss, we will be gaining lessons from it. Hard days are the best because that’s when champions are made,” shared Tisha Aguilar, mother of bronze medalist Elisha Aguilar.
The team representing the secondary girls and boys also made waves in the tournament. Raphael Lloyd Pico Angela Marie Joy Bermejo, and Joshua Cachero pocketed the gold medals while Xyrus Andrei Desierto, Rannie Rose Dedoroy, Cheri Nicole Latade, and Ronald Kyle Pico bagged the silver medal.
“I am so thankful to God for this victory. I was so surprised with the results and the overall champion award since we joined only for the jin’s exposure in preparation for the upcoming National Inter-School Taekwondo Championship in Manila later this month,” Pinggol added.
