YOUNG volleybelles from Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) will defend their title in the 2018 Milo Little Olympics Visayas Regional Finals, which formally kicked off yesterday Aug 31 in Cebu City.
More or less 500 student-athletes from different schools in the Visayas region will participate in the 31st edition of the annual regional sporting events.
BTTHS of coach Biboy Calamba is the reigning champ in the girls’ volleyball tournament after defeating University of San Jose-Recoletos in three-straight sets, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-23, in 2017.
According to Calamba, they really prepared well for the tournament.
Seeing actions for the Bacolod-based squad are Alyssa Bertolano, Kiesha Bedonia, Katherine Shane Cortez, Charlene Tayapad, and Gwen Bañas. They will be reinforced by newly-acquired teammates Aurea Alvero, Anikha Cabasac, Sophie Cagalawan, Nicolei Galvan, Jermaine Joniega, Kathleen Kate Tan, and Elijah Ysulan.
But Tay Tung faces a lot of challenges as they are bracketed with powerhouse teams from Cebu – Abellana National High School, Mary Help of Christians and Cebu Eastern College.
Aside from their volleyball team, Tay Tung also fielded athletes in basketball, chess, badminton, scrabble, track and field, and gymnastics.
