MILO LITTLE OLYMPICS VISAYAS: Negros pockets 26 medals in swimming, athletics

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL wrapped up the 31st Milo Little Olympics Visayas Regional Finals at the Cebu City Sports Arena, Sept. 3, with 26 medals.

Bacolod City aquanaut Reagan Joseph Garbanzos led the team with nine gold medals, including four new records in the regional tournament.

Garbanzos, a student of Mambulac Elementary School in Negros Occidental, shattered the records in elementary boys’ freestyle 100m (56.65 seconds), 400m (4:27.48), 200m (2:18.19) and 800m (9:21.66).

Alexi Kouzenye Cabayaran of St. Scholastica’s Academy in Bacolod City also established four new records in 400m freestyle (5:06.45), 100m butterfly (1:10.51), 200m freestyle (1:15.46), and 100m freestyle (1:04:48).

Cabayaran also topped the 100m backstroke, 200m individual medley, 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, and 50m butterfly.

Negros Occidental also did well in track and field events.

Represented by Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS), the team snatched 11 gold, one silver, and five bronze medals.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) Shalthea Delotavo got four gold medals in elementary girls’ 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay.

Jade Polite Cordova also won three gold medals in 100m hurdles, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay. She made a bronze finish in 400m hurdles.

April Anne Dealagdon pocketed two gold medals in 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay and two bronze medals in 800m and 1500m running.

Ana Francessca Hermosura won gold medals in 4x100m and 4x400m relays and bronze in 100m and 200m.
In the secondary girls’ division, Antonette Jay Aguillon captured three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4×400 relay. She also got a bronze in the triple jump event.

Krisha Aguilon ranked first in 400m and 4x400m relay apart from silver finishes in 100m and 200m running events.
Ara Rahbea B. Delotavo clinched two golds in 100m hurdles and 4×100 relay and a silver in 400m hurdles.
Completing the gold medal finishers are Stephany Rey Malate in 4x100m relay.
