IF THIS is not massacre, I don’t know what is.
Iloilo United-Green Archers Under-15 Team-B annihilated Nemesis club of 22-0, on May 13, 2018 in the ongoing Premiere PFF-Youth Football League Series at Alabang Country Club, Muntinlupa City
Team Manager and lawyer Joseph Celis said Iloilo United is the only team outside of the National Capital Region to join the league for the first time upon the invitation of Ilonggo football legend Chieffy Caligdong of Barotac Nuevo.
The leading scorer for the all-Ilongo squad was James Tuazon of Central Philippine University, a native of Barotac Nuevo, with 9 goals in the 1st, 6th, 21st, 24th, 52nd, 70th, 71st, 76th, and 77th minutes of the game.
Francis Botavara of Barotac Nuevo scored in the closest of sequences as to time (other than James Tuazon) on the 72nd, 74th and 78th.
Ross Ferrer of Hua Siong School in Iloilo City scored three goals (12th, 29th and 38th) while Nickos Mamon of CPU and Janiuay town notched a goal in the 35th minute.
Ryan Cudal, 12, of Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive School, the “cutest” of them all, scored on the 42nd minute.
Charles Mana-ay of Jalandoni Memorial High School, La Paz, Iloilo City followed in the 46th minute even as Johann Mitchel “Platini” Javellana of CPU-HS punched the net once more on the 61st minute.
Vinch Pulmones of Barotac Nuevo, son of Coach Vincent and Sheryl Pulmones, scored on the 64th minute
Japjap Baito, another Barotac Nuevo native, also scored on the 74th minute
One of the team’s sensational dribblers, other than the talented National U-15 player Tuazon, forward Jhon Laurence “Chokoy” Calmada scored on the 77th minute of the 80-minute regulation time.
In an unprecedented move, master tactician Jun Jonathan Tupas Palma Alabado directed goalkeeper Mark “The Heartthrob” Gedaya to play forward. He did not waste time as he sizzled with the ball while attacking the goal of Nemesis players.
Some players tend to over-celebrate and forget their defense when they score, but not Iloilo United as Jake Salazar of CPU/Janiuay was a formidable wall against Nemesis’ forwards with support from by Matt Sobredo of Sta. Barbara, half back Francis Mediana of Maasin, who used to play for CPU elementary.
Karlo Lustan also played defense and was supported by the smooth and calm defending on the left side by Lian Joseph Celis of CPU/Jaro FC who passed the ball with precision and quickness.
Celis was incisive in his passes to his teammates Hanz Javellana, Karlo Lustan and Chokoy Calmada.
Zedric Marben Bance and Charles Biliran, both of Barotac Nuevo, were both solid and dependable halfbacks who were reliable in pressure and tight space passing and interception.
Jonlee Dile and Dave Garcia were sidelined by slight injuries but they were all out in egging the team on.
The team also credited Lance Joseph Panaguiton, another heartthrob of a goalie, who played almost the entire game in defending the box.
Team Manager and lawyer Joseph Celis said they are overwhelmed by the team’s achievement so far.
“It is the premier league of the Philippines, and we raised funds to support the boys without cost to their parents. We have the two best coaches, that is why I decided to support them,” Celis said.
