LaPaz volleybelles clinch ICSSC title

THE secondary girls’ volleyball team of LaPaz National High School displayed the sharp form expected by many as they bagged the crown in the 2018 Iloilo City School Sports Council (ICSSC) Meet held at the Iloilo Sports Complex (ISC).

The volleybelles of Jiggy Gallo walloped archrival Iloilo City National High School (ICNHS) in three-straight sets, 25-13, 25-17, 27-25, to bag the crown.

The newly-crowned champions recovered from a sluggish start to win the first and second sets.

But ICNHS did not back down in the third set as they exchanged kills and aces.

LaPaz spikers Lara Mae Silva, Cathlyn Mitch Nogales, Kristel dela Cruz, Cherry Bagnate, Jhona Yee, and Princess Zyne Tumayao eventually found their perfect sets and attacks to claim the victory.

According to Gallo, the girls played superb in the do-or-die set.

“We really prepared for this tournament and we’re happy to bring home the title. Our girls deserve this victory and our next assignment is to gear up for the upcoming 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Council (ISSC) Meet at the ISC grounds later this year,” Gallo added.
