Ilonggo suits up for Azkals, AFF Suzuki Cup

JOVIN Bedic, a son of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, was called up by the Philippine Azkals days before they take on Singapore for the AFF Suzuki Cup at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on Nov. 13, 2018.

Bedic is one of the 29 players included in the national men’s football team in various home matches this month.

Bedic currently plays for Kaya FC Iloilo where he scored the lone goal to win the first Copa Paulino Alcantara of the Philippines Football League (PFL) 2018 season.

Aside from Bedic, 11 players from Ceres Negros FC are also part of the pool – Curt Dizon, Patrick Reichelt, OJ Porteria, Mike Ott, Manny Ott, Kevin Ingreso, Stephan Schrock, Paul Mulders, Amani Aguinaldo, Carli de Murga, and Martin Steuble.

Other Azkals team members are brothers Philip and James Younghusband, Dennis Villanueva, Marco Casambre, and Patrick Deyto of Davao Aguilas FC, and Adam Tull and Jarvey Gayoso of Ateneo de Manila University.

The team is also looking into including Neil Etheridge of Cardiff City FC, Michael Falkesgaard, Stephan Palla, Javier Patino, Daisuke Sato, Luke Woodland, John-Patrick Strauss, Iain Ramsay, Misagh Bahadoran, and Alvaro Silva.

This is the fourth time that Bedic suited up for the national team. He was also part of the team that joined the 2018 Bangabandhu Cup in Bangladesh.

After their Singapore match, the squad will also host Thailand on Nov. 21 before playing on the road against Timor Leste on Nov. 17 and Indonesia on Nov. 25.
