Ilonggo cager fuels NU to fifth PSSBC crown

A NATIONAL University (NU) cager from Iloilo City was simply too strong for his opponents as he carried his team to its fifth 7th Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship at the SGS gym in Quezon City, Dec. 26, 2018.

Gerry Austin Abadiano scored 27 points for the NU Bullpups in blasting De La Salle Greenhills Greenies during the finals match, 107-87.

The former dribbler of St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets and Batang Gilas mainstay was also named co-Finals MVP along with Terrence Fortea who scored 28 baskets.

Abadiano, also a former Palarong Pambansa MVP, said he is happy to give his team another victory this year. He hopes to carry his ace game to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

The Bullpups made a great run in the third period as they stretched the lead to 34-20

Kevin Quiambao converted 21 points and 19 rebounds and was named tournament MVP and was part of the mythical selection along with NU teammate Cyril Gonzales, Anfernee Estacio of San Beda, RJ Abarrientos of FEU and Inand Fornillos of La Salle.
