Ilongga to lead nat’l women’s volleyball team

ANOTHER Ilongga volleybelle will skipper the women’s volleyball team.

Aby Maraño of Pass City, Iloilo confirmed her appointment as the national team captain by the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI). The national squad will compete in the Asiad in Indonesia in August 2018 and in the Asian Cup in September.

Maraño said her appointment is a realization of her dream to become a national volleyball figure.

Maraño succeeds Mika Reyes, who headed the national team in last year’s Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and Jovelyn Gonzaga of Guimaras, who skippered the team in the 2015 SEA Games.

LVPI advised the public to wait for the announcement of the 20 players that will compose the national women’s volleyball team.

The team will be trained by head coach Ceseal delos Santos and to strengthen their lineup, they will join in the 2018 Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference which kicks off on June 23.
