FOLLOWING the successful hosting of the national finals in 2016, Iloilo City will again host one of the 16 qualifying legs of the 41st National Milo Marathon on Oct. 8, 2017.
Leg 11 of the marathon will kick off at the Iloilo Business Park (IBP) in Mandurriao district.
Milo Philippines Sports Executive Robbie de Vera said Iloilo City served as a great host of the National Milo Marathon Finals last year.
“We are thankful to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Vice Mayor Joe Espinosa III for agreeing to host a qualifying race this year,” he added.
During the National Milo Marathon Finals in 2016 at the Iloilo Sports Complex, Mary Joy Tabal of Cebu topped the women’s division while Bacolod City’s Jason Agravante snatched the men’s crown.
The first three qualifying legs in 2017 were already finished. Negrense Julius Sermona and Christabel Martes topped the Urdaneta leg; Reynaldo Pascua and Mercy Taypoc dominated the Laoag leg; and Rafael Pescos and Cinderella Lorenzo ruled the Manila leg.
Aside from Iloilo, other qualifying races will be in Angeles on Aug. 6, Tarlac on Aug. 13, Naga on Aug. 27, Lucena on Sept. 3, Lipa on Sept. 10, Tagbilaran on Sept. 24, Roxas on Oct. 1, General Santos on Oct. 15, Davao on Oct. 22, Butuan on Nov. 12, and Cagayan de Oro on Nov. 19.
Meanwhile, for the second time, Cebu City will host the 41st National Finals on Dec. 3.
